Ologist - Sign Of The Times
Ologist is a hip-hop producer based out of Virginia Beach, VA, and is part of the production collective known as the Better Beat Bureau. He's been crafting tracks on the MPC2000XL since the early 2000's and is known for his blend of soulful samples and synths.
Sign of the Times is from Ologist new instrumental project to be released on 5/28, "a tape for Gil." is a hip-hop instrumental project based on, and dedicated to Gil Scott-Heron's music and legacy. Standing at 11 tracks long, the project represents both the emotion and tone that was ever present in his music. Each track draws on samples from Gil's catalogue, and includes several audio clips of his poetry, words and interviews. With a beat culture approach, "a tape for Gil." provides listeners with a fresh opportunity to discover Gil's music, understand why many consider him the Godfather of Hip-Hop, and become acquainted with what the Ologist has to play.
