Beat Tape Co-Op - Presents The Foundation Producer Series 023 Introducing Frietboer
Frietboer (NL) has always been in love with somewhat distorted and messed up sound-effects. A big influence on how make my beats was, listening to my brothers cassette tapes from 80's and early 90's.
In 1994 Frietboer started making Gabber (hardcore) en triphop on an Amiga system. Soon he had a decent PC at home and started using Fast Tracker II. In a while computers and software evolved and he used Fruity Loops for years. Nowadays he prefers to do everything in Ableton.
Frietboer samples alot from cassette tapes and videotapes (VHS), because of tape-compression and weird analog sound effects that arise when the cassettes are not proper stored.
The (rap)beats he's made for this tape are boombappish, but very different in sound (design)
To name a few artist Frietboer loves:
DJ Muggs
DJ Krush
RZA
And outside Hip Hop:
Low
Four Tet
Shout out to Beat Tape Co-Op, I think this concept is more of a historical archive, growing day by day. Also when you like to dive into dutch beatmakers, be sure to check out: Kimchi Kriminal, Miss Tahloulah May, Sum Say and Anan Striker (Tape Jockey one of my fav DJ's at the moment)
